Live Up to Bonifacio's Revolutionary Legacy

As the nation commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Gat Andres Bonifacio, Kabataan Partylist Rep. Terry Ridon called on the youth to “respond to the challenge of our time by living up to the Supremo’s revolutionary legacy.”
“Beyond remembrance, we call on the Filipino youth to live up to Bonifacio’s revolutionary legacy – to continue the fight against foreign domination, oppression and the cult of capitalism,” Ridon said.
“At a time when the only KKK that the government recognizes and serves arekamag-anak, kabarilan, kaklase, the youth should imbibe the principle of collective action taught to us by the Supremo’s Katipunan to struggle for genuine change,” the youth solon said.
“For the revolution that Bonifacio and his comrades waged more than a century ago was not only a revolution against the Spaniards. It was a revolution against oppression, poverty, and inequality. These things are – more than ever – ravaging our nation. Thus we, the youth, must take up the cudgels and continue his fight,” Ridon said.
The youth solon also extended his greetings to the 15th anniversary of Anakbayan, one of the founding organizations of Kabataan Partylist. Dubbed as the “most comprehensive mass organisation of the youth” in the Philippines, Anakbayan prides itself of having chapters in all major provinces of the country.
“The challenge for us is to emulate Bonifacio, who in the prime of his youth selflessly offered his life in service of the toiling masses. We must not be blinded by mere platitudes and the passivity of reformism. Like Bonifacio, let us organize thousands of youth, students, farmers and workers to fight for their rights. Like Bonifacio, let us mobilize the Filipino people to continue the struggle for a just and humane society,” Ridon said.
The youth solon noted that Bonifacio was only 29 when he, together with Ladislao Diwa and Teodoro Plata, formed the Katipunan in 1892.
“We should use the strength, vigor and idealism of our youth to foment change, even if it entails offering our prime years in the service of the Filipino masses,” Ridon ended

Note: This is an article of Kabataan Partylist, however, I will update this post in the upcoming days.

Tunay na Josenian, Sino ka nga ba???

This is a short video as our assignment in Mass Communication 3. We only made this video half-day. It was edited and shoot by Nicko Tubo, one of my gourpmates.

Sa isang Relasyon
Mahalaga ang Komunikasyon
Dahil sa paglipas ng panahon
Puso nati'y mababaon

Possessive man kung tawagin

Marami man tayong ginagawa

Naguguluhan man pero kumakapit
Parating nag-aalala kahit walang kapalit
Palaging iniisip ang buhay mong kaakit-akit
At kahit parang may lumalayo, nandito't lumalapit

Komunikasyon at tiwala

Tulang Pag-ibig

Hindi ko inakala
Na tayo ay magkakakilala
Sa simpleng tingin sa Fb
Ang puso ko'y nabighani

Di ko alam kung paano
Tumibok ang nawawalang puso
Sa daigdig ng aking pagluksa't pagkapaso
Nandyan ka, oh, giliw ko

Nang tayo'y nagkakilala
Buhay ko'y puno ng ligaya
Galing lubog, ngayo'y umangat na
Ang ngiti kong pagsinta

Nawala man ang puso ko
Ibinalik at ginising mo ito
Sa simpleng chat at tingin lamang
Napapa.ELAIve you na ako

Hindi ko mawari
Kung papaano ito nangyari
Iniisip ka gabi-gabi
Hanggang sa makatulog ng nakangiti

Hiling ko sa iyo lamang
Ang pagtitiwala't pagpapahalaga
Na iaalay ko rin sayo
Nang buong puso't buhay ko

Sana rin ay magkita
Landas nating dalawa ng tadhana
Di man tuluyang kilala ang isa't isa
Alam ko'y puso ang magdidikta

Galing ako sa pamilya ng mga guro
Magulang, lolo't lola, tita man o tito
Ngunit ikaw ang natatanging
Guro ng aking puso

Mag-ingat ka o giliw ko
Kahit papaano ay naririto lang ako
Di mo man makita ay madarama mo
Ang pagmamahal na iaalay ko sayo
Mam ko ;-)

Walang Magawa

Dedicated to: Cebu City

Stunned by the tropical storm "Ofel"

Love Birthday

Kaarawa'y mo
Wala ako
Presensya ko
Wala sayo

Alam kong di ako ganyan
Ka importartante sa buhay mo
Ngunit sana'y malaman mong
Importanteng tao ka sa buhay ko

Wala sa planong hihiwalay ako sayo
Sa araw ng kaarawan mo
Ipag.umahin mo't may
malaking problema akong natatamo

Hiling ko lang ang
pagpapahalaga't pagtitiwala mo sakin
upang makumpleto ang buhay ko
Kapiling ka
Akin ko ;)

Note: hindi 'to masterpiece ko, kasiyahan lang.. nagawa ko 'to ng 2 min. lang.. hehehe

Learning Tribute

Station Tour Reaction
MC3- Introduction to Broadcasting
TTh 7:00-8:30 PM

I was challenged about how my blockmates percepts of our station tour will be as our adviser also challenges us about the Finals requirement. It was a great opportunity and education to pursue especially in our MC 3 course as we've put into an action our discussion of the different topics and powerpoint presentations in our Introduction to Broadcasting. Education is not only based on how students memorize their lessons but the application itself, the actual experience in the field is the real and proper way to educated a students and that's our MC3 with our veteran media practitioner adviser Jun Tariman and a reason why I volunteered to make the tour possible.

"Madayon pa ba ang tour? Wala na'y oras uip". Negative perceptions lead to a positive and challenging actions. After I had accomplished the papers and settle things, they were surprised and shocked yet excited- as I've seen it in their eyes with their beautiful smiles arriving in the ABS-CBN CEBU Broadcast Complex in Jagobiao, Mandue City. Exactly, 2 o'clock in the afternoon when we started our station tour. But before we had the tour, Sir Tariman orients us about the brief history of ABS-CBN. I knew that it was previosly the R.C.P.I. compound and bought by the station worth 70 Million Pesos.

Our first stop was in the desk set up of Teledyaryo and then, we were live in the broadcast of Ferdinand MaƱos in DYAB -abante bisaya. I got a clear look on what is really happening in actual broadcast/ program in a radio station.

Then, we went to the technicians room and as Mr. Valeriano Villariza Jr. an uncle of one of my blockmate welcomed us and taught us in dealing a life and work of being a technician.

It was then changed in the atmosphere of love as we visited the Lupig Sila- DYLS with Dj Ace. He told us that in advising a caller, you must have this "kick, kiss, kick" attitude. He also conducted on how to log a commercial and stressing that in being a Dj: "It was a mental awareness and no holidays".

I was then amazed in the News Department of ABS-CBN seeing familiar faces as most of them were a Josenian graduate like kuya Joworski Alipon, Charlie Maratas and ate Agnes Alpuerto. I also saw on how or what is the real setting of Maayong Buntag Kapamilya. I also knew that you must monitor your competator to build your guidelines and techniques. And was astonished seeing on how they edit their articles and in using the Electronic News Room software.

We also visited the editing base and interviewed a graphic designer. They taught us on how to put a crawler in a television set-up. And when we got in the Technical Operation Center or "TOC" i was then amazed. I asked a question regarding the different t.v. that the operator monitored. I was then realized that the first t.v. represents the manila coverage via satellite program and then brought in audio video switcher then aired which is what we've seen in our household in Cebu. The Switcher Operator taught us that the commercial must not be followed by the commercial of its same brand like vaseline and head and shoulders (both shampoos) as one questioned his monitoring about the alloted commercial time for the product.

Then, we had our glimpse in master control room and got in the TV barn as we waited and watched the actual broadcast of TV Patrol Central Visayas- seeing the different studion cameras, TV prompter and lightings.

It was big and nice that I stepped the ground of its barn. I learned that the key light is the main light, the flood light minimizes shadows and the back light defined the outline. I also knew the different terms in handling a broadcast like dolly in and out. I also learned on what is the real/ actual set-up of a stationits device and its uses and on how to act in the actual broadcast- off and on the camera in TV patrol was amazing and serves a great oppurtunity for me that is worth remembering for. After seeing all of those, I am nowexcited- on having in the actual field, enjoyed- on facing the devices and learned- on how to be a good mediamen.

And above all else, I learned on how to be a Leader- on how to manage my time, to face the challenges and also to mold myself. We are about to tour in 3 different stations, in a day with school buses, that's the plan yet it did'nt happened because of the time. But I dont feel unworthy yet proud that it was successful, a tour serves as a tribute to our dear Sir Jun Tariman. As the tour organizer, I'am also proud that many put their smiles every now and then. And proud as an instrument to accomplished our goal as our requirement for this course and as I defined it our tour is successful, full of fun and smiles as I learned in our tribute- to be a good media practitioner, a leader and a rela me because serving is my passion.

Great Learning tribute for us! -worth remembering

RP sports: must lift its glory for its first GOLD

This is an Sports Editorial that I wrote last 2009

Smart Gilas Pilipinas ended its campaign for 2012 London Olympics in an upset against to a powerhouse team Jordan and moved at the 4th spot of the prestigious FIBA Asia Basketball Championship.

The upset is not a tease but an achievement that each and everyone of us must be proud of. Since 1987, when the Philippine team stepped in the final four in the whole Asian basketball. Almost 24 years, the basketball glory was dead. It is an honor and we must appreciated what our basketball team had done to renew our powerhouse existence in the court of basketball. Being the fourth of the hundreds of Asia is a great achievement for us, proving that yet we are small, we are one of its best giants and a great team to fear of.

From the sport that we’ve already loved to the sport that we are blind of, throughout the past decades, the sports that could fit in our Filipino athletes and the king of all sports—Football. It doesn’t requires height or physical appearance but it needs heart and determination on which our Filipino athletes had an edged. Philippine Azkals were the forces who strapped each blindfolds of every Filipino. It marked a legacy as they taught us to praise the king of all sports. The Azkals brought back the Philippine goal of football on its finest displaying an enormous upset of the powerhouse teams in Asian Football Challenge Cup and AFF Suzuki Cup. The Azkals marched their way as they garnered the support of the Filipinos in developing and renewing football in the Philippines. Its name “Azkals” also gathered the attention to our government, proving that we have the skills to put an edged and a legacy in the world of sports and it is also an evidence that the government were not supporting the football and the Filipino athletes in their journey of its goal.

Another Philippine teams that the government didn’t lay their support were the Philippine Rugby team known as the “Volcanoes” and the Philippine Dragon boat team. The government failed to handle the top glory of the Philippine sports in the past decades. In Southeast Asia, we only averaging as the 5th to 6th place as Vietnam and Thailand dominates the play. In World Olympics, we still haven’t got the prestigious gold medal garnering only 2 silvers and 9 bronzes since we started to enter the prestigious event.

The search for our first gold continues. The government were greedy to have it but are they really want to go for it? How can we get one? do we find faults to our athletes? Absolutely, we should not blame our athletes. They had it all but they lack training and support from the government and that’s the lacking piece on its search for gold.

Despite of the lapses of our government to find ways of supporting our Philippine sports, the athletes found their ways and determined to put a dramatic showdown in their International battles. As the Azkals, Volcanoes, Dragon boat team and other athletes successfully risen the banner of our country, the government awakened by the truth in the real status of our sports. The President himself together with other officials, different companies and organizations promised to provide support for our Philippine sports. It marked that this will be our stepping stone for a greater legacy to put supremacy in our glory for our 1st gold. That’s one of the reasons why we can’t get a gold but as we’ve marked this to an end. Hopefully, the government will truly support our RP sports and realized something that it is time to put an edge and a dramatic ending of its milestone. The athletes and the government must be as one team, one nation, one glory for one goal to renew our Philippine sports as we rise its glory for the 1st gold.

Kalikasan

Save Nature! Save Lives! Save Mother Earth!
